Deleted Inactive Courses

The Faculty Senate voted in October 2009 to remove courses that had been inactive for a period of 5 or more years from the curriculum and from course catalogs. Faculty were afforded the opportunity to review the list of inactive courses and departments identified those inactive courses which they wished to retain. A list of inactive courses that have been deleted at the conclusion of this process ( InactiveCoursesDroppedFinal.xls ) is posted here as an Excel file.

The Senate also voted to allow courses on this list to be reinstated during a 4-year grace period (through August 2014) without going through the Senate curriculum approval process. Reinstatement requests should be submitted by the department chair to the Registrar. Please note, though, that if the reinstated course differs from the original course in title, description, credit hours, or prerequisites, it will be necessary to submit an alteration or course change application to the Senate curriculum approval process.

The course numbers of deleted inactive courses on this list may be reused in new course applications with an effective date of Fall semester 2010 (201008) or later. However, reuse of a course number will end the grace period and preclude reinstatement of the old, inactive course.
